Belgian Shepherd Dog breed information now live
Originating in Belgium for use in livestock herding, there are four very distinct types of Belgian Shepherd Dogs:
the Groenendael (Groenendaal), Laekense (Laekenois), Mechelaar (Malinois) and Tervuren (Tervueren).

Dachshund breed information now live
The Dachshund originated in Germany for following badgers and foxes to earth (rabbits in the case of the miniatures).
There are 3 distinct varieties which all come in 2 sizes: the standard smoothhaired Dachshund, the miniature smoothaired Dachshund, the standard wirehaired Dachshund, the miniature wirehaired Dachshund, the standard longhaired Dachshund and the miniature longhaired Dachshund.

Golden Retriever breed information now live
The Golden Retriever is on of the most popular breed around the world. They are mostly biddable, faithful and affectionate, although some can be headstrong and willful. They make good family pet, can live in most homes but best in the country.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breed information now live
The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a working dog, acting to bring ducks into range of the hunters gun.

Weimaraner breed information now live
The Weimaraner is an old German breed dating back to the 1600s.
Used for tracking and retrieving game.
Bold and fearless to the extent that it can also act as a guard dog.

Poodle breed information now live
The Toy Poodle originated in France as a companion, a miniaturization of the German herd-guarding and water-retrieving Standard Poodle. They are slightly larger than the Miniature Poodle.

The Queen loves her Corgis
As a special treat for our Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her Diamond Jubilee here are some our favourite pictures of Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
The first, this magnificent picture by Sally Anne Thompson of Champion Ermyn Sugar Loaf Of Lees.

Unfortunately we don't have any dragons in our library, but this Greyhound is doing a pretty good job!
According to the Chinese Lunar calendar this is a very auspicious year.

Ratonero Bodeguero added
Animal Photography has added a new Spanish terrier type breed: the Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz (the Andalusian wine cellar keeper's rat hunting dog).
Also known as: Perro Ratonero Andaluz, Andalusian Rat-Hunting Dog or Perro Bodeguero Andaluz. It was recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and by the Spanish Kennel Club as an indigenous Spanish breed in 2000.

New breed added: Volpino Italiano
We have now added images of a little spitz type Italian dog known as the Volpino Italiano (also known as the Cane de Quirinale, Florentine Spitz
or Italian Spitz). The Volpino is recognised by both the FCI and UKC.

Many more images added of the rare Wetterhoun
We have just uploaded Alice van Kempen's lovely images of the wetterhoun, also known as Frisian Water Dog. This rare gundog breed from the Netherlands performs well on land as well as in water and was originally used to hunt otters.

New breed images added of Tamaskan dogs
This breed was co-developed in Britain, it is made of Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute and German Shepherd plus some unknown Nordic breeds and is bred internationally.
The aim is to have a dog that looks like a wolf dog but does not have wolf crosses and thus easier to keep. Not suspicious but a reliable friendly dog.

Nick Ridley signs with Animal Photography
Today we signed the fabulous Nick Ridley to Animal Photography, this is fantastic news, as just last month we signed Paul Walker.
Nick has been involved in photography for over 30 years and this experience coupled with a lifetime of being around working dogs gives him an undeniable edge when photographing our canine companions. He was an inspector with a well known animal charity and always puts the care and welfare of the animal before the taking of a photograph.
He is a full time professional dog photographer and is available for both commercial and private commissions. In 1998 he started what has become one of the highest profile and well respected dog event photography businesses in the country. His photographs are used throughout the world and he has a number of international clients within his portfolio.
Nick has written two books on photographing pets and dogs and in 2008 he published his "first coffee table book" Labradors... At Work, Rest and Play. In 2009 the second book in the series Spaniels was published and both books have gone on to be international sellers. Nick has made numerous television and radio appearances.

Paul Walker signs with Animal Photography
A warm welcome to Paul Walker; the latest photographer to join the Animal Photography team.
We first came across Paul a few years ago, when one Christmas morning we unwrapped his fabulous book: Pet Photography Now. Since then we have been following his great work, and today are delighted to announce his contract arrived safely, dog bite-mark included.
Paul has won numerous awards for his stunning imagery - a list far too long to go into here - and has been awarded the Scottish Master Photographer title no less than three times.
His extensive experience of photographing animals with differing temperaments - from rescue dogs through to highly trained Crufts regulars - and attitude to pet photography is well regarded, as are his ‘animal wizardry tricks’; a special set of animal interaction techniques designed to get the very best out of his subjects.

Not only that, Eva brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of Dogs to Animal Photography; she has written several reference books about Dogs and has worked with KOSMOS publishers for many years, she also publishes two magazines: Collie Review and Beardie Revue.
Her collection of rare breeds of dogs is unrivalled, and we’re truly excited about having her with us. Eva lives in Germany and is possessed by her most lovable Whippet called Nikki.
